Unique Father’s Day Gift

I often feel at a loss for what to get my husband for Father’s Day. He is such a huge help to me around the house, he does so much to provide for our family, and he is an amazing father. I truly want him to feel special and feel celebrated. Our media center is in great need of updating and he’s made comments about how that space could use some improvement. I’m so excited to start transforming this space and step one is to surprise him with a unique Father’s Day gift, a TV Wall Mount!

Here’s my before photo. As you can see there are toys shoved in the corner, the media console has plenty of nicks from five sweet kiddos running around this house, and the inside of the console is unorganized. I am on the hunt for a new console that will better match my updated aesthetics, but this one holds the TV and it can lift up or down so the TV can be hidden. When we first got this console, and before having five kids, we would use the lift often. When the TV is lowered into the console, there’s a painting hanging there. As time has passed, we stopped using the lift and we leave the TV up all the time. As you can see, when the TV is raised, it doesn’t have a cohesive look. The painting hanging on the wall is off center. The wood framing at the base of the TV is exposed and looks awkward. We have been really wanting a clean look while having the freedom to enjoy the TV when we want.

If you think about it, a lot happens around this TV. I’ve taught my kids shapes and colors through watching a few of our favorite educational programs. We have gathered in this space each year to watch the Masters and to enjoy the Super Bowl. Recently my kids were glued to the TV marveling at the Winter Olympics. And we always enjoy family movie night together where we mix up a batch of hot popcorn and all curl up together on the couch. We do a lot of living here and I’m so pleased with how SANUS helped us transform this space!

I was a little apprehensive about taking this on myself, but besides lifting the TV onto the mount, this was easily manageable by just following the instructions! Mounting a TV is relatively easy and only involves 3 steps. In fact, if you’ve hung a heavy mirror or piece of art, a SANUS mount is similar and uses the same tools – however, they include much better instructions! The box not only had the hardware I needed, but they included additional to ensure compatibility with almost every flat-panel TV.

For installation, all I had to do was attach the brackets to back of the TV, then measure the spot on the wall and install the wall plate. The last step was to hang the TV on the wall plate and then sit back and enjoy! I couldn’t believe how simple it was!

I needed a tilted mount for my TV, which allows the TV to tilt down to reduce glare or access cables. I love that it is adjustable from side to side, so if we need to move the console over, the TV can be adjusted as well. I wondered about the weight of my TV and the chance of it coming off the wall.
