National Diaper Need Awareness Week
As parents to five children, ages nine to two, I’ve been changing diapers for nearly a decade. I read that the “average” child can go through 1500 to 1800 diapers during their diaper-wearing years, which is a lot of diapers when multiplied by five! Today I’m sharing about our journey these last ten years, and how there is a great need to support families who struggle to provide diapers for their family. It breaks my heart to think of a family going without this basic need for their baby, so keep reading to learn how we can all help during National Diaper Need Awareness Week!
Thank you Huggies® for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
I can vividly remember the first time we changed our first son’s diaper. I had a cesarean birth with my first son, so I was still immobile from my bed when my husband tenderly changed his diaper from the hospital bassinet. Brian had never changed a diaper so it was fun to watch him figure it all out. I remember how tiny that little Huggies® diaper was, and I was so thankful that our nurse loaded us up with lots of diapers as we left the hospital.
Because of the generosity of many family and friends, who gifted us so many diapers at our baby shower, throughout the first year of my son’s life we didn’t have to purchase diapers. With so many gifted diapers, we got to try many brands. Through trial and error and seeing which worked the best for us, we fell in love with Huggies. We found that we saw less leakage with Huggies, and we love the line that indicates when a diaper is wet. We’ve trusted Huggies for nearly ten years!
I was so surprised to learn that 1-in-3 families in our country struggle to provide enough clean diapers for their kids. If you really think about it, that is a staggering number. Many families struggle to attend work or send their child to school or a daycare facility because they do not have access to the diapers they need. This issue causes further financial struggles on the family.
I am honored to have a chance to bring awareness to this issue and help bring more diapers to families in need. I am partnering with Huggies, during the National Diaper Need Awareness Week. Since 2011, Huggies has teamed with the National Diaper Bank Network to donate over 220 MILLION diapers to support families struggling with diaper need.

They have made it so easy to join this effort, and you can join us as well! During the month of September purchase Huggies diapers at any Walmart or Walmart.com and Huggies will make a donation of 2 days’ worth of diapers to the National Diaper Bank Network. They are committing to provide up to ONE MILLION diapers! It’s an easy way to help others with a purchase you may already be making!
I love when my job allows me to give back, especially when I can partner with a brand I’ve loved and trusted for so long. I hope you will join me in this important effort to support families in need across our country!
