My kids are ages nine through two so I like to be creative about lunch offerings to keep things interesting and provide something that everyone will love. Sandwiches are a favorite in our household, especially when we made them into paninis! Add the right kind of cheese and throw it on the panini maker so it gets crispy and warm, and my kids are all in. What is it about a toasted, warm and cheesy sandwich that makes it that much more enjoyable? If you don’t make paninis regularly, I encourage you to add it to your list! It’s a great option for busy evenings too when you need to run kids to sports or their other activities.

I am always trying to shake things up a bit to encourage my kids to try different food, so I love that this sandwich broadens their palette a bit. You’ll need five simple ingredients for the kid version of this Cheesy Avocado Turkey Sandwich:

We love Sargento® cheese because it’s natural cheese that is not only great for my kids but it’s a taste they love! Not all cheese is created equal, both in taste and in the ingredients. For over 60 years Sargento has been making real, natural cheese. It’s my go-to brand for making sandwiches like this and lots of other recipes for that matter. My kids love to eat a slice of cheese as a part of an afternoon snack as well.

I’ve used the Sargento® Colby-Jack in this Sandwich, but my kids also love their Mozzarella and Mild Cheddar as well. As you can see, baby girl started diving into her sandwich as soon as I handed it to her, and you can see the joy on her face! I get so much enjoyment when I see my kids loving a meal I’ve prepared.

When making these for my husband and me, I also love to add roasted peppers, mayonnaise, and a drizzle of olive oil over the mayonnaise. It really adds a nice flavor that we love so much! The gooey, cheesy inside and crispy outside takes this sandwich over the top!
