Family Favorite: Easy Chocolate Cookie Recipe

I took a home economics class in Junior High and it was my introduction to baking. We learned how to make chocolate chip cookies by looking at the recipe off the back of the bag, which was also my first experience following a recipe as well. I then started experimenting with different amounts of sugar and various other combinations to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie, and I became known in my family for my chocolate chip cookies. My recipe has changed over the years as I’ve learned more about baking, but I’m excited to share this Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe with you today that you are sure to love!

Tips for Baking the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Now I think we all probably have different preferences on how we like our chocolate chip cookies. For me, I like them soft, chewy, and not brown…oh, and full of chocolate. If you are looking for a cookie as I described, you’ve come to the right place! There are a few things that set this recipe apart, so be sure to follow the recipe below.

Easy, chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe

Yield: 3 Dozen

Easy Chocolate Cookie Recipe

An Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe that is sure to delight a crowd! Follow these easy steps including a few tricks that are difference makers for chewy, soft, cookies.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Total Time 18 minutes

Ingredients

  • 170 grams Butter (3/4 cup)
  • 50 grams Sugar (1/4 cup)
  • 165 grams Dark Brown Sugar (3/4 cup)
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 10 ml Vanilla (2 tsp)
  • 240 grams All-Purpose Flour (2 cup)
  • 3 grams Salt (1/2 tsp)
  • 5 grams Baking Soda (1 tsp)
  • 2 grams Cornstarch (1 tsp)
  • 219 grams Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (1 1/4 cup)

Instructions

  1. Allow Butter to Soften, and Egg to reach room temperature.
  2. Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter until soft and creamy.
  4. Add sugar and brown sugar and mix well.
  5. Then add vanilla and egg to your mixture and mix well.
  6. In a separate bowl, add the flour, salt, baking soda, and cornstarch and mix lightly.
  7. Add the dry mixture in gradually to combine.
  8. Once combined, add your chocolate chips until mixed well.
  9. Cover the bowl and place in refrigerator to chill for at least an hour.
  10. Once chilled, uncover and allow to soften for 5-10 minutes.
  11. Roll into balls, and shape like cylinders, placing on a baking pan.
  12. Cook for 8-9 minutes in 350 degrees preheated oven.
  13. Pull out and let them continue baking, and while still warm, add additional chocolate chips on top for a consistent chocolate chip cookie!.

One final trick to share, save some of your chocolate chips to add to the tops once the cookies have come out of the oven. It will make your cookies look professionally made and disperse the chocolate throughout the top. Just make sure you use this trick right when they come out of the oven!

Another great element to this cookie dough is you can freeze it! I like to premake some of the dough balls and store them in the freezer. You can pop a few out when you are in need of a treat, let them thaw and throw them in the oven!
