It’s summertime and we’re all about grilling. While summer sometimes lends to lazier mornings and a slower pace, we still have some busy days shuttling kids to summer activities or wrangling kids at the pool. It sure is nice to be able to throw some things together for dinner and then turn over the grilling responsibilities to my husband. He has just the right touch on the grill, and these turkey burgers were no different!

As much as I love the taste of grilled food, I love even more when it can align with my health and wellness goals, and turkey burgers do just that! I am always looking for cleaner, leaner options and this recipe for turkey burgers which are both delicious and I feel fuller longer and it’s better for the body!
Now I’ve seen various recipes for turkey burgers. I’ve seen a smothered mushroom turkey burger, a Greek-style turkey burger, just to name a few. While these recipes sound amazing, I’ve been on an avocado kick and I wanted to assemble a few of my favorite condiments and keep this recipe as clean and nutritious as possible! I love the combination of tomato, avocado, spinach, turkey, and cheese! It’s filling, it’s protein-heavy, and it’s scrumptious.
Now let’s get to the turkey burgers recipe!
Turkey Burgers
A healthy alternative when grilling, these turkey burgers are sure to delight kids and adults!
Ingredients
- 1 tomato
- 1 avocado
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 4 slices swiss cheese
- 4 Jennie-O turkey burgers
- 4 whole wheat buns
Instructions
- Fire up the grill and while it is heating, slice your avocado and tomatoes.
- Simply remove the turkey burgers from their packaging while frozen and place on the grill for 9-10 minutes cooking both sides. Use a meat themometer to ensure the turkey is cooked to 165°F.
- Assemble your turkey burger with your preferred toppings and serve immediately!
I also love that Jennie-O provides versatile options that can be used in a salad, as a burger, or another
recipe. We have enjoyed the plain white turkey burgers, the seasoned turkey burgers, and bacon cheddar turkey burgers. My kids love their turkey franks and so do I because I can feel good about what we are eating without sacrificing taste, quality, or the recipes we love.
