The Ultimate Travel Guide for your Next Beaver Creek Ski Vacation

For our spring break trip, we took the kids on a Beaver Creek Ski Vacation in Colorado. The thought of taking five kids on a ski trip was a little intimidating at first, but with a little planning we managed to have a terrific time, the older kids learned to ski really well, and we made priceless memories! 

When we arrived in Beaver Creek, which is stunning by the way, we checked into The Charter. Let me tell you, this place is seriously gorgeous both inside and out. It is surrounded by breathtaking views of the Colorado mountains and evergreen trees, and of course, because we were there in winter, a beautiful coat of glistening snow. Just seeing pictures of the place in other seasons makes me want to go back during other times of the year just to see all of the majestic beauty.

The Charter is modeled after an old European style lodge and is considered one of the top lodging option in Colorado. It is warm and cozy and the amenities are plentiful including two on site restaurants. The kids LOVED the indoor pool and game room and we loved the comfy beds, plentiful towels and handy concierge.

The two-bedroom condo was absolutely stunning. With rustic decor, and a gorgeous vaulted ceiling in the living room, it was the perfect cozy setting for a ski vacation. We had a full kitchen, bar area, and kitchen table which allowed everyone room for meals. We also had a stacked washer and dryer which was so helpful in handling laundry during our stay, but also helpful for drying ski clothes after use. The balcony had the most gorgeous view of the mountains and village, and it was filled with firewood so we could enjoy a nightly fire.

While The Charter is a ski in/ ski out resort, it is also conveniently within walking distance on Beaver Creek Village making it a great spot to stay with a family because we could just park and walk to places we wanted to visit. The hotel offers ski rentals (and bikes in season) as well as a health club, hot tub and a full spa.

While visiting it was supper handy having two restaurants on property. We were able to grab hearty breakfasts at The Terrace Restaurant and we also visited The Black Diamond Bistro which is considered one of the top restaurants in the area. We could pop down for a meal, or have it delivered to our room, which was especially helpful after a long day of skiing.

Beaver Creek Village has so many wonderful family-friendly activities, and festive decorations. They offer ice-skating at an outdoor rink, there was a Flower festival while we were there. There are lots of shops that cater to a lot of different interests from art, to toys, to clothing and jewelry.

On days we felt like exploring a little further we ate at the Dusty Boot Roadhouse in Beaver Creek village. This funky, rustic restaurant has an eclectic menu with  yummy burgers, sandwiches, salads and power bowls in addition to Thai noodles and Mahi Mahi tacos to name a few.

One day the kids were clamoring for pizza and we found the Blue Moose, an adorable pizza spot decorated in blue and white with fun and colorful kid art lining the walls in addition to paper tablecloths allowing us to create our own works of art while waiting for our pizzas. Let’s just say that good food is not hard to find in Beaver Creek.. if we ever go back I know we have lots of other places to try!

As I mentioned before, this was our first ski trip with the kids so ski school was definitely in order. We signed up for half day private lessons so they wouldn’t get too worn out and they took to it quickly. After two days of half lesson I was blown away at the ease my nine, seven, and six year old could ski. They were skiing backwards, going over ramps, and taking sharp turns. The smiles that graced their faces after a couple of days of zipping down the bunny slopes just filled my heart.

Beaver Creek is full of fun activities for the entire family. From skiing and snowboarding to ice skating and snowshoeing. The area is SUPER family friendly with parks like Red Buffalo geared JUST for beginner and intermediate skiers. There are lessons for girls, special needs, sleigh rides, warm cookie time at 3 pm at various spots around the mountain, Thursday night lights fireworks and so much more. We really could have stayed another whole week in order to enjoy everything that Beaver Creek had to offer.
