The first thing I typically do in the morning is turn on our coffee machine. If you are a coffee lover like we are, there aren’t many things worse than waking up and realizing you are out of coffee. Well, I ran out of coffee not long ago. It was one of those busy mornings after a late night of staying up to work and care for the baby. Enter my excitement! I was so excited to learn there is a service of organic, hand roasted coffee that can be shipped to my door, so I never run out again! It almost sounded too good to be true, so I decided to try out this coffee subscription service for myself. I was curious about the quality and the taste and now that I have tried four different roasts of Leiva’s Coffee, I am not looking back (and I have a very fun treat at the end of this post for you).

We have tried the Breakfast Blend, the Finca La Esperanza (Light Roast), Abuelo Fuerte (Dark Roast), and the Abuela Reina (Medium Roast). I sincerely love the taste of each one and it has been fun to compare. Brian and I each have a favorite. He enjoys the Abuelo Fuerte the most, and I’m having trouble deciding between the Breakfast Blend and the Finca La Esperanza. But I really love them all!

Their coffee is roasted by hand and in small batches. It is intriguing to learn how much a difference this makes, you can taste the difference immediately. Their subscriptions ship out daily, so the moment you get your coffee you can be sure it is fresh. You can order a one-time shipment, but there are many options that can be tailored to your coffee-drinking preferences…weekly, monthly, every two months…lots of options!

They also offer a reward program where each dollar you spend, earns you Coffee Points! You can refer a friend and you both earn $10, and you can earn rewards by linking/tagging them on Facebook and Instagram. 

Family-Owned Roasting Company: Meaningful Impact

I love when there is more to a company than just a product or service. Leiva’s Coffee is a family-owned roasting company and their mission is to break cycles of poverty, one bean at a time. They have created a quality, small batch coffee that also has a meaningful impact. Their goal is to educate the future and they do so by sponsoring education programs in the villages of rural Guatemala. They give a portion of their proceeds back to the communities to help improve quality of life and nurture the hopes and dreams of future generations.

I had the opportunity to speak with Geovanni, a family member of Leiva’s Coffee, and I was blown away by the heart of this company. He shared that they help to provide internet to the Guatemalan schools. They have supported the farmers in the community by building homes for single parents, providing electricity, building bathrooms in homes, building facilities for churches, and they help bring water to these communities. I love it when I can partner with a company that gives so much back!
