Fall Mantel Decor Ideas
After spending most of the last 6 months at home, I have been ready for a change within these four walls and decided to spruce up things with my fall decor. Just a few simple steps, a few DIY decor projects, and few new accents, and I have a whole new look for fall. The warm tones and cozy decor is bringing so much joy during an interesting time in life. One thing I’ve realized over these last few months of a pandemic, our home is our haven and I want our haven to be a festive place where my family feels safe, relaxed, and joyful.
Last year I focused on navy, light blue and gold for my fall color palette. This year, I had a vision for white and gold fall decor throughout my living room and kitchen, and I’m so happy to see it all come together. I used my favorite white plush pumpkins from Hotskwash. I love the unexpected texture of velvet on the pumpkins! You can visit their site to see all the available patterns and colors, and my local friends can find these whimsical pumpkins at Tipton and Hurst Florist.
I added a gold fall garland and finished off the pumpkin arrangement with layers of large gold magnolia leaves. I love the contrast of the white and gold, and the bit of shine that the gold brings to the mantel. I staggered gold candle sticks to add some height and elegance to the mantel. The variable heights add depth and interest, and a romantic touch when the tapered white candles are lit at night.
After I finished up, I felt like something was missing and realized a golden wreath would be perfect hanging in front of the antiqued mirror above the mantel. I ran to my craft store and came home with just four tools to make the gold magnolia wreath. It took about 20 minutes to make, and Brian helped me suspend it from the top of our fireplace. He always knows I have an idea when I ask him to get the ladder and hammer out, ha!
When we first saw this house, the fire place is one of the things that made me fall in love with it. I could see the many ways this two-story living room could be decorated. The wreath is striking and reminds me of the mantel display I did last year for Christmas (see it here in my Living Room Christmas Decor post)! I will be sharing a tutorial soon, but be sure to check out my Fall Craft Ideas with Leaves for other wreath ideas in the mean time.
