I’m sharing a festive and very tasty cookie recipe today. These are perfect for a Valentine’s Day Dessert, or you can make them year-round. My daughter and I enjoyed making these together and they turned out so yummy! I’m excited to share our Peanut Butter Heart Cookies recipe.
We had so much fun baking together. She kept stealing bites of brown sugar, and of course, couldn’t resist the cookie dough once it was all mixed. I love experiencing these moments with her…this is everything I imagined motherhood would be. She pretty much made this batch of cookies herself (with my assistance of course) and she even rolled them into little balls in preparation for baking.
We tried rolling out some dough to use our heart shaped cookie cutters but those didn’t turn out as cute. We’ll have to attempt those again next time to master using cookie cutters…LOL! But you’ll love this recipe. The combination of chocolate and peanut butter is simply divine. These cookies literally melt in your mouth and honestly, it’s hard to stop!! They are that good! These are perfect for a Valentine’s party, or just to make for a special loved one or neighbor (if allergies aren’t an issue of course!).
A lot of similar heart cookies recipes call for rolling the dough balls in sugar before baking. That’s certainly an option but we are trying to reduce sugar where we can and these cookies are so good without the additional sugar. It’s really not needed! The chocolate peanut butter hearts will start melting as soon as you put them on the hot-out-of-the-oven cookies, so if you are planning to gift these cookies, put the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to let them cool faster and you’ll keep that pretty little heart shape!
PEANUT BUTTER HEART COOKIES RECIPE
Peanut Butter Heart Cookies
These cookies will melt in your mouth. The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is simply divine.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tbsp whole milk
- 1 tsp organic vanilla extract
- 1 package Reeses Peanut Butter Hearts, unwrapped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine the butter, peanut butter, sugar and brown sugar. Mix until creamy.
- Add the egg, milk and vanilla. Mix just until combined.
- Gradially add the dry ingredients until mixed well.
- Allow the mixture to chill for a minimum of an hour. Three hours is best.
- After chilling, but while the dough is still cold, roll into balls and place on silicone baking mat.
- Bake for 9 minutes on 350 degees.
- Upwrap peanut butter hearts while the cookies are baking.
- Once out of the oven, immediately place the hearts in the middle of each cookie. The chocolate will melt quicky, so if you are wanting to gift these cookies or use them for an event, you can put them in the refrigerator for a bit to maintain the chocolate heart shape. Otherwise eat them immediately to enjoy the warm yumminess!
