TOP SELF CARE TIPS
This post is sponsored by the NEW Oikos Oh! Double Cream Yogurt, however, all opinions are my own.
When we as women have so many roles, it’s so easy to forget to take care of ourselves. Wife, mother, friend, daughter, sister, neighbor, volunteer, leader, manager…we do so many things, and we want to do so many things well. The past year of my life will go down as the most hectic. We moved our family after 9 years in our home, and we managed multiple renovation projects while growing a new business (this blog). We survived, but at the end of the year I felt depleted. My goal for this year is to focus on self care because I know I can’t sufficiently care for those I love, and the work I love, if I am not taking care of myself. I’m excited to share self care tips that I have put into place, and hope this will help you as well!
TIME TO INDULGE
Because most women are innately nurturing and love to care for others, we often overlook our needs or at least put our needs on the backburner. Whether that’s a need for a little retail therapy, a little peace and quiet, a little binge-watching a favorite show, or a yummy meal, it’s helpful to purposefully treat ourselves.
My new favorite treat is this Oikos Oh! Double Cream Yogurt, and let me tell you, it’s a treat for sure. It’s not your typical yogurt, I think of it as more of a dessert but it’s a great any time of day snack too! It is made with double the cream of Oikos whole milk yogurt and it has a rich, luxurious flavor. Luxurious may sound questionable for yogurt, but the best word I can use to describe the thickness and the taste is luxurious! Have you ever eaten a meal, or dessert, that made you want complete silence while you enjoy it? Well, this yogurt is that good.
I tried the Salt-dusted Caramel Crème and the Mixed Berry Rhubarb and both are amazing. There is a hyper-indulgent sauce at the bottom that is an extra layer of goodness. You won’t want to share! And that’s what self care is about, right? Taking a moment to put yourself first?
TIME TO REST
As women, we often want to take on the world, don’t we? Whether that be focusing on the next promotion, the next milestone, or managing a home, kids, meal planning, carpooling, volunteering, or other hobby, it’s easy to skip on rest in order to pursue our goals and dreams. This has been my story at least.
I often find myself staying up late to work, and while you can likely handle less sleep for a time period, it’s not the best thing long term for anyone. We can’t function at 100% if we are not getting adequate sleep, and everyone around us loses when we can’t think, we aren’t in the best of mood, and/or we are short-tempered with our family. My goal has been to stop working at a reasonable hour so I know I’ll get a solid night of rest, and Saturday’s are my day for sleeping in. What are you going to do to fit that sleep in?
TIME TO RELAX
One of my challenges that is self-induced, is that I put so much pressure on myself. I have struggled with anxiety and it’s difficult for me to make time to relax. Do you ever go full speed ahead, to suddenly find yourself struggling to function because you’ve hit your breaking point? I found myself at this point during and after Christmas and I realized I’ve got to make a change.
One step I’ve made is to purposefully relax. For me, that means a bubble bath, a night of putting my phone or computer aside and watching a show, sitting on the couch and watching my kids play (without worrying about the toy clean up), and/or recognizing when I’m stressed or tired and choosing to leave a chore or a project or an activity for the next day. Another fun thing I’ve done is to put on a good playlist while we’re making dinner or tackling a few chores at the end of the workday. I’ve found it’s one way to melt away the stress from the day. What can you do to relax more?
TIME TO REJUVENATE
How do you fill your cup when it’s empty? For me, it’s diving into a favorite hobby. Having five kids in seven years put my love for reading on the back burner. I can’t tell you how many books I’ve started and haven’t finished, how many books I’ve intended to read and haven’t even started. I’ve purchased to many self-help, goal-digger, marriage, faith, home design books with a full intent to read them. This is the year that I start a book and finish it, that I make time for something I enjoy even if it’s 15 minutes here or there. It will be such a joy to finish a book! What could you spend a little time doing that will rejuvenate your soul?
TIME TO REFRESH
Sometimes we need to just change a few things up to better care for ourselves. Whether you are reorganizing a space to make your life easier, redecorating a room to bring a little joy, tackling a project that has been on your to-do-list, rekindling or forming a new relationship, make time to refresh something in your life that will spark the feeling of joy and bring satisfaction to your life. Making time for more satisfaction is certainly taking better care of you! What can you refresh in your life to bring a little joy?
Give me a bath, give me a book, give me a nap, and give me some NEW Oikos Oh! Double Cream Yogurt and I will feel rested, relaxed, rejuvenated, and refreshed. I hope you enjoyed these self care tips and you feel encouraged to take care of yourself. I’m in the life stage of raising babies and though the days can be long, I want to feel my best and find joy in the chaos. In order to be the best version for the people we love and care for every day, we have to intentionally stop and care for ourselves, even if that means carving out a few minutes each day!

5 kids in 7 years? Girl, you’re crazy. I complain about not having any tome for yourself with just 2 kids so I don’t know how you do it but def make time for yourself!
Haha, it is crazy, but we have so much fun!
Loved these tips! And this is my favourite yoghurt too!! Tastes like ice cream!

Thanks for sharing. it was awesome!
Thank you for reading!
I have to admit, I don’t have to deal with any child quite yet but I often feel exhausted already. You’re right, self-care for us is definitely a necessity nowadays. And with a busy life, there are times when we even forget to rest and that’s not good. Thank you so much for the tips! 🙂
Hope you can stop and rest!
Love these tips, self-care is something that I have been trying to focus on for this coming month. It is so hard as moms to not feel a little guilty for indulging in self-care so it’s something that I’m trying to do this month sans guilt. I will definitely take these tips into consideration, and try out that yogurt too 🙂
Yes it really is a challenge!
Taking care of myself is usually the first thing to go when I’m busy. Thanks for the reminder how important that is!
Yes it can be!
I normally don’t get enough sleep during the week. When I get the chance I try to sleep more on the weekend and take relax. A few weeks ago I just had to take a break to catch up on my sleep.
I can be the same way!
Love these self care tips! I love a bubble bath and book too! And now I want to try this yogurt!
You’ll love it!
Great reminder and excellent tips. I too overwork myself. The yogurt flavours sound more like dessert than healthy snacks. I am going to check out the salted caramel one first. Yum!
Yes it could definitely be considered a dessert! I hope you can find some rest!
Self care is so important! My go to, “me time” ritual is a short nap to feel refreshed and a hot bath to relax!

Sounds perfect!
Love this! It’s hard sometimes to pull yourself away to rejuvenate as you said above. I have six kids so I understand LOL. Giving yourself permission without feeling guilty is the key, no? I want to feel rested, relaxed, rejuvenated, and refreshed. I think I need a little of that. Thanks for the reminder and for sharing. So, they say kids keep you young. You look so happy and beautiful!
With six kiddos, yes you understand! Thank you for your kind words!
Self-care is so important. Thanks for sharing this amazing post.
