Brunch is one of those perfect meals. A combination between breakfast and lunch, often incorporating sweet and savory dishes and maybe even a delicious cocktail like this tasty Cranberry Orange Mimosa. A perusal of my blog will show you that as a family we love a good breakfast or brunch so I am always creating new recipes to share and have shared several on the blog including favorites like these kid friendly French Toast Rolls Ups.
What types of food do you serve for brunch?
I like to serve a variety of dishes to provide not only a balanced meal but also something to suite every person’s taste, especially if I am entertaining. I try to include fresh fruit, protein (eggs and meat), baked items and of course dessert!
Best Brunch Recipes
Today I have gathered together a selection of top food bloggers to share some of the best brunch recipes, making it easy for you to find one or more that you’d love to serve at your next brunch gathering. The outpouring of brunch recipes was so overwhelming that I’ve decided to break up this post into several posts, each highlighting a different category. Keep an eye out for future installments as I cover Brunch Friendly Casseroles, The Best Egg Brunch Recipes and Vegetarian/ Vegan Brunch Recipes too.
Sweet Brunch Recipes
Who doesn’t love a little sweet offering in the mornings? I think a sweet dish or dessert completes a great brunch spread. Take this this Easy French Toast Casserole Recipe I shared last Christmas. I think it’s a terrific addition to any brunch menu. In addition, I am loving these sweet brunch recipes (and dessert table options) as well:

Vanessa at Maple + Mango shares her recipe for German Waffles and I am ready to dig out my waffle maker. These look fluffy, crisp sweet and ready to be heaped with favorite toppings.
Lemon Polenta Cake is a naturally gluten free, ultra moist nod to Italian cooking. The recipe is simple but impressive enough to serve to guests for dessert or brunch.
Deryn from Running on Real Food shares her Vegan Monkey Bread recipe. It looks absolutely DELICIOUS. You can’t go wrong with a dish that is drizzled in cinnamon brown sugar icing in my opinion. YUM!
Basically an excuse to eat dessert for breakfast is how Mary aka Goodie Godmother describes this Lemon Cheesecake French Toast Casserole. We have to agree! Whip this up the night before for an effortless (and tasty) brunch the next morning.
Raspberry Sweet Rolls with Lemon Cream Cheese Glaze is a twist on the classic cinnamon roll. Take out the cinnamon, add sweet and tangy raspberries and top with a lemon glaze for a delicious breakfast offering.

Lokness shared her Blueberry Croissant Bread Pudding as a dessert but we think its perfect as a brunch item. Tart fresh blueberries, crisp croissants and buttery rich filling topped with creme anglaise? Yes, please!
Peach Compote Cream Cheese French Toast… need I say more? This recipe from Sarah at the Whole and Heavenly Oven ticks all the boxes for a delicious, sweet and tart brunch offering. It makes me ready for fresh peaches to be in season NOW!
Ryleigh from Homegrown Fare says these are hands down the BEST classic Cinnamon Rolls around. She also shares that you should be prepared to spend a few hours making them, because perfect cinnamon rolls take time and patience and these are worth it!
Anyone spending time on social media will know that charcuterie boards have become all the rage and I myself, have shared quite a few on my blog, including these Five Brunch Board Ideas I shared last summer. Vanessa at Maple + Mango shared her Waffle Breakfast Board for this brunch round up and now my mouth is watering. Vanessa has bunch of great ideas for her “breakfast charcuterie board” and I’m thrilled she is sharing.
And if Vanessa’s waffle board weren’t enough to inspire you to break out the waffle maker, maybe Casual Foodist Brianna’s Decadent Chocolate Waffles will tempt you. Indulgent, crispy and slightly sweet are how Brianna describes these treats making them a terrific option for your next brunch gathering.
These Raspberry Almond Scones can be made in just 30 minutes and Kathryn describes them as unbelievably tender, soft and just the right amount of crumble. They are bursting with fresh raspberries and sweet almond and topped with a delicious homemade glaze making them perfect to accompany a brunch spread.
Helen from Srummy Lane shares her Carmelised Banana Pancakes and I think these are a perfect brunch treat that everyone would love. Her recipe reminds me of a breakfast version of Bananas Foster and that isn’t a bad thing!
If you’re like my family you love donuts and churros in equal measure. Cyndy at the Art of Food and Wine combined the two to create these easy Baked Churro Donuts which leave out the deep fried aspect but bring on the flavor. I bet these would be fabulous with a cup of coffee!
How Do You Brunch at Home?
Seven tips for a successful and stress free brunch at home:
- Set out all serving dishes, decor and other items the day before. Don’t forget coffee cups, juice glasses and champagne flutes.
- NEVER serve pancakes for a crowd. You’ll spend all of your time making pancakes and won’t get to enjoy your party. Serve a dish like baked french toast (see great recipes above) to make it easy.
- DO make scones. Scones can be baked well in advance and frozen so you can warm in the oven the morning of your party.
- DO serve eggs or an egg dish that can be put together the night before and then baked in the morning.
- Make bacon in the oven on sheet pans. This makes it easy to cook lots, relatively mess free and the house will smell YUMMY!
- Mix up juice for mimosas or Bloody Mary mix the day before so its ready to set on the bar.
- Don’t sweat the small stuff! If you’re hosting a brunch party, you want to relax and enjoy your family and friends. Don’t be afraid to delegate small tasks like making coffee or pouring drinks. Allow folks to help and enjoy!!
