Gift Ideas for Cooks ($30- $150)
As you know I am finishing up Chef school, concentrating in pastry. You can’t make great pastry without a marble surface. If you don’t have marble counters, a marble pastry board is a necessity for rolling out dough.
Now if you have those marble counters, you’ll need a substantial cutting board. Boos boards are loved by Michelin star chefs and home cooks alike and are nice enough to stay out all the time.
If you’ve followed my blog for long, you know I love baking bundt cakes. I’m a sucker for fancy bundt pans and I like NordicWare pans like this one, this gorgeous one or this 75th Anniversary one.
Now, I won’t tell you how many cake stands I own but its safe to say, its more than 3! Cake pedestals are a beautiful way to present cakes (and other desserts) and they make nice gifts. Here are some favorites. This marble one. This lovely wooden stand with glass dome. And this classic white porcelain stand.
This collection of gourmet salts from SaltVerk is a great addition to kitchens and bars, Great for cooking, garnishing and cocktails.
Likely you’ve seen the collection of wooden cutting boards I keep behind my stove. This oblong bread board is perfect for serving bread or creating a charcuterie board for a small group.
Splurge on these Gifts for the Gourmet (over $150)
A must have for any serious cook is a cocotte or dutch oven. I believe that quality counts here as these tools are so versatile and useful for a variety of recipes. Cared for properly, these pieces can be passed down from generation to generation. Here a couple of my favorites. The Staub Cocotte and the Le Creuset.
No serious cook’s kitchen is complete without the ultimate workhorse, a KitchenAid mixer. These are so versatile with a plethora of attachments to make sausage, pasta, spiralize veggies and more.
I’m often asked about the pumpkin shaped server seen in several of my posts like this one for Butternut Squash Soup. It is in fact the Staub Pumpkin Cocotte and I just LOVE it. It is the perfect vessel for cooking and serving soups, particularly in fall.
