As a Mom of five, pet owner and an avid project do-er, you can bet that we face our fair share of messes around here. In fact, crumbs, stains, and messes are a part of our every day life and can quickly overwhelm without the right tools. I’m sharing today my Holiday Cleaning Checklist and the essentials to getting your home ready to host, or just ready to sit back and enjoy the holidays!

Holiday Cleaning Checklist: How to Clean for the Holidays
Table of Contents
I’ve added a new system to my home that I now question how I lived without. I have wood, tile, and carpet surfaces throughout my home and I now have the right tools to manage both every day care and deep cleaning and preparing for special occasions like the holidays.
We host a lot during the holidays, from Thanksgiving, to my daughters’ birthdays, to holiday-themed play dates, to hosting at Christmas, there are an abundance of guests in our home. I’m so glad I now have the Hoover ONEPWR System that operates off of rechargeable lithium ion batteries. I don’t have to think about cords, and I have the tools I need to quickly and effectively clean the various surfaces in my home.

The Hoover ONEPWR suite of products offers a variety of useful home keeping tools for both indoor use and out. They include leaf blowers, flashlights and shop vacs but the three I know I will get the most use out of are the Blade + Cordless Vacuum, the Floormate Jet Hard Floor Cleaner and the Spotless GO Cordless Portable Carpet Cleaner.
In fact, these products have been getting quite the workout as we have entered the holiday season. As you have seen in recent posts, we have been busy elves getting our home decorated for the festive season and it has been so handy to have these cordless appliances on hand. Especially to clean up quickly before guests arrive.
As much as I love fresh garland, it can leave a daily mess so I especially love the Cordless Vacuum because it is so easy to grab up the debris and move on with my day! It is super flexible in that is breaks down to be a handheld mini vacuum (great for the stairs) and comes with additional attachments for crevices, upholstery and dust too. The dirt cup is easy to empty right into the household trash. I love that I don’t have to deal with a heavy vacuum and this is so easy that the kids love to help too.
Cleaning Hardwood and Tile Floors
Since we have wood and tile floors throughout our home the Hard Floor Cleaner is a life saver! This is like a wet jet mop on steroids! It is safe for use on sealed hard floors and you can even use it to refresh area rugs which is awesome when you have pets! The roller part pops out really easily to clean and the holding tank is also a cinch to remove and rinse. Those of you who have young kids know that barely a day goes by without some sort of dribble or spill so this product is great to have on hand for a quick clean up.
Spot Cleaning Rugs and Carpet
When stains get deeper on the rugs, our carpets, or the furniture the Spotless GO Portable Cleaner is amazing. This little unit is a whiz at cleaning up stains and messes especially in tight spots like stairs, upholstery or smaller areas. With winter here, I know it will be much easier to tackle muddy footprints, juice spills and life’s little accidents that happen in a busy household.
While I love the white painted walls and neutral decor in my home, it obviously shows dirt easily. In fact, I won’t tell you how many months I have had blue crayon on my white carpet or milk stain at the top of the stairs but I’m so glad I now have their Spotless GO Cordless Portable Carpet Cleaner to help clean any problem areas quickly.

I hope this holiday cleaning checklist was helpful. If you haven’t sent Santa your Christmas List yet, may I suggest you add the Hoover ONEPWR System to it? Definitely putting this on my Christmas list! I love that the vacuum comes apart.
This is so helpful! I definitely have cleaning to do for the holidays. This vacuum sounds amazing!
A vacuum is on my Christmas wishlist but I wasn’t sure which one. This looks like a winner!
I’m moving at the end of the month, so totally doing a lot of these anyways. Gotta make the house tidy for the next people that come in! Super interested in the carpet cleaner – with two dogs and a baby on the way me thinks it might be wise to invest in something like that.
I love a good cleaning checklist! The holidays can be a little but we can’t forget about this!
I need that vacuum cleaner in my life. Also numbers 3 and 4 are great reminders. Thanks.
I have the Dyson but I really love the Hoover’s battery swap capability so much better!!!
This would really make my life easier. Thanks so much for sharing.
