If you are coming over from Jen, of Tatertots and Jello, welcome to my spring home tour. Every inch of Jen’s home is gorgeous and I always learn something new when visiting her site! I’m happy to be sharing my spring design ideas for front porch, living room, and kitchen today. These are often the spaces used the most in a home so it’s always nice to bring in some new (and old) spring decor items to breathe a little new life to the space each season.
Lately I have been yearning for simplicity in all areas of life, so I made some simple updates to our home decor ideas for spring. In the Spring Decor ideas I’ve shared in the past, I used blue and yellow throughout my home. The past few months I’ve been transitioning my decor to a more neutral palette so I focused on green and white for my spring decorations.
When to start decorating for Spring
I personally like to start decorating for Spring at the beginning of March. Valentine’s Day is behind us, I have typically tackled a few organizational projects for the new year and I (hopefully) have started some spring cleaning. We always start by deep cleaning the most used (and viewed) spaces in our home, like the front door area, living room and kitchen.
Part of our spring cleaning process includes a good declutter. We store away any items that do not work with my plans for the upcoming season, and throw away or donate items that have been outgrown or are no longer useful.
How to decorate the front door for Spring
Let’s start with some ideas for decorating the front door for spring. One of my favorite days of the beginning of the spring season is when we go to our local garden center and load up on spring annuals for my garden containers and planters. Bringing fresh blooms and color to your front porch is an instant way to refresh for spring.
Here are some quick tips for how to decorate your front door for spring:
- Start by cleaning your doors, any windows, and porch area.
- Decide on a color palette
- Hang a spring wreath on your front door
- Add fresh annuals to your garden pots
- Layer objects like lanterns and statuary that bring interest
How to decorate for Spring on a budget
One of the easiest ways to decorate for spring on a budget, is to shop your own home. Bring out items you haven’t used in while to make the space feel new without spending. I like to move decorative items like ginger jars, candles, bowls, pillows, and vessels from other rooms. By shopping your own home, you can make a room feel refreshed and newly decorated with items you already have on hand.
You can also purchase a few low budget items like pillow covers and candles to add into your mix. Pay attention to seasonal sales in your favorite decor stores to gather some new items for your spring home decor.
How to decorate the living room for Spring
I wanted my living room to be super cozy and inviting as the weather is still cool. I focused on a neutral palette and brought in some faux greenery to minimize the upkeep. We are in a very busy season of life so anything I can do to save time throughout the week is always a good thing!
If you’ve been a reader for some time, you might recognize some new decor throughout my home. I brought in some warm, earthy tones, and I am so happy with the new cozy feel. I restyled my bookshelves, coffee table, console table and mantel and I feel like I have a whole new space!
In addition, I brought in some olive branches and other faux greenery for vases and pottery to decorate the living room for spring. I have some new pillow covers coming but they haven’t made it in yet.
Spring Decor for the Kitchen
In the kitchen, I brought in some fresh flowers I picked up for $20 at Trader Joe’s. These fresh blooms definitely bring an instant spring appeal to the kitchen. I also used faux greenery in my larger ginger jars which will allow me to keep those out with minimal maintenance.
My bread boards and trays are used to display functional decor like my tea kettle, pepper grinder and olive oil. I use these items almost every day, they’re attractive and they look great displayed as well.
On the kitchen table, I pulled together a simple spring table setting with wicker place mats, white dishes, and gold silverware. A single tulip adds a bit of spring to each table setting, and I love the moss covered bunnies for a whimsical touch.
I hope these simple spring decor ideas give you some inspiration for decorating your home for spring on a budget.
