With an all white kitchen, I love choosing a color to feature to change things up a bit. One of my goals is to think about functionality when I’m styling a room. I love to use bowls to hold the fruit my family will enjoy throughout the week, my favorite oils and spices are displayed on a cake plate to keep them handy while cooking, and my cutting boards that are used nearly daily are sitting right by the range. Functional items can certainly act as decor as well!

I love to style my kitchen island with candles and ginger jars. I can burn a yummy smelling candle while we are in the kitchen, and easily change out my flowers. One little thing I love to do each week is to pick up seasonal flowers from the market. Between culinary school and cooking for a family of seven, I spend a lot of time in this kitchen. Having fresh flowers in my home is one of my joys in life so I love having jars handy so I can enjoy them week to week.

Last year I shared Spring Mantel Ideas and l went all out with fresh and faux florals on my mantel. I decided to keep things simple this year, utilizing my blue and white ginger jars and adding fresh and faux flowers. I also focused on a blue color palette for the living room so I pulled out my favorite blue pillows, some blue coffee table books and a lovely quartz for the coffee table. I love that just a few simple touches can make a huge impact.

One question I get a lot from both friends and my readers here is how I keep my neutral furnishings and decor clean. First of all, I try to use fabrics that are durable and washable. My rug is an indoor/outdoor rug that is very easy to spot clean. I have also sprayed all of my upholstered furniture with scotch guard to help with easy clean up. We love entertaining in this room and having family devotionals here so it’s a space that I want my kids to feel comfortable living in.

I also switched out some of our decorative accessories like books, candles, pillows, and more to produce a fresh new look that we can enjoy for the next few months.

Decorating doesn’t have to be break the bank, by utilizing pieces you already have in your home or bringing in fresh or faux flowers, you can quickly update a space. Head over to the post to see all the details of our bedroom.

Spring Decorating Ideas: Dining Room

I shared 22 beautiful spring table settings last week, including my spring tablescape that features touches of blush pink, bright pink, and white. My dining room is currently in transition as I am replacing some furniture pieces. I have loved setting a beautiful table since I was a young girl, so seeing this vision come together brings so much joy. Many family memories are made and special moments celebrated while sitting around the dining table.

I wanted to share a sneak peak below of the new dining room chairs and the chinoiserie panels that really help lighten up my space to match the rest of my home. I have a mirrored chest coming along with a rug that will help finish off this room and I can’t wait to share the new space with you! Be sure to check out my spring tablescape post for ideas on setting your table for upcoming spring and Easter celebrations!
