Home Staging Tips for the Bathroom

Getting your home ready to sell can be a daunting task, so I’m excited to share home staging tips. Today I’m sharing more in-depth tips on one very important room in your home, the bathroom. Staging a bathroom is an easy step in helping your potential buyer fall in love with your home, and even if you aren’t selling your home, you can follow these easy tips for creating a spa-like relaxing retreat.

When prospective buyers are touring your home, there are several key rooms they will be watching out for and the bathroom is one of those rooms. You not only want to ensure you stage your bathroom, but you want to ensure you don’t have plumbing issues throughout your home as well. Following are some easy tips for staging a bathroom and creating a spa-like relaxing retreat!

CHECKLIST FOR STAGING A BATHROOM

• Declutter your countertops and organize your cabinets and drawers. Use this opportunity to throw out any products or utensils you do not use. As potential buyers are considering your home, they will be glancing in your cabinets and potentially your drawers to see how much storage space is in your home. Cluttered cabinets and drawers can be a turn-off and will make your storage seem minimal.
• Add small decorative elements that you might find at a spa like candles and fresh towels. I displayed a few of my lotions and bubble bath, and fresh soap doubles as a decorative item. I also purchased new white rugs to help brighten the space. When staging a bathroom these elements can help make your potential buyers feel at home and you will love your new spa-like retreat as well!
• Deep clean your bathroom. You want your bathroom to sparkle, so deep clean your bathroom counters, tub and shower areas, and the toilet area as well. Ensure baseboards and the trim is clean, cabinets are wiped down, and your bathroom fixtures shine. Don’t forget to clean doorknobs and cabinet pulls!

• Make small updates to your bathroom. If it is outdated you can easily exchange the lighting, bathroom fixtures, and cabinet hardware for an affordable update that makes a huge difference on the eye. I personally love using brass in my home, but my brass fixtures and lighting were 20 years old, so I exchanged them, and it made a huge difference without breaking the bank!
• Check the ceilings and walls for any areas that need to be cleaned or need touchup paint. If your walls are not a neutral color or you have outdated wallpaper, you might consider painting your walls a neutral color. Also, a fresh coat of paint on your baseboards and trim can help make your bathroom appear fresh and clean!
• Check the caulk around your shower, tub, and toilet is clean and doesn’t need recaulking. If you have the right tools you can recaulk yourself, or you can ask a licensed plumber to help.
• Look under bathroom sinks, tubs and showers to ensure that you do not have leaks or slow drains.
