Why I love Holiday Charcuterie Boards

Regular readers will know Charcuterie Boards are my favorite go-to for entertaining and this festive holiday dessert platter is no different. They are an easy and attractive way to present a wide array of snacking options from savory meats and cheeses to sweet treats!

I recently created this whimsical Halloween Charcuterie Board full of candy favorites and this Savory Thanksgiving Charcuterie Board with a touch of sweet. I also touched on the basics with a step-by-step post on creating a delicious Holiday Charcuterie to pair with wine.

My Charcuterie must-have is adorably decorated cookies from Trader Joe’s and the Fresh Market. Their festive treats always lend a nod to the holiday theme and are colorful and delicious!

For this holiday season, I decided to go back to sweets which is perfect for these cookies. I added various vessels to hold loose candies like holiday candies and Jelly Belly’s and included a Christmas favorite: snowflake shaped marshmallows !

In addition, I added Peppermint Pretzel Slims and dark chocolate covered pretzels. It’s fun to shop for seasonal favorite like ribbon candy, little Santa’s, raspberry stars, snowball cookies, and of course many of our everyday favorites are available in Holiday versions. It’s a good idea to keep in mind different colors and textures that match your theme.

You could definitely make your holliday charcuterie board more upscale by buying or creating festive holiday chocolate bon bons and other chocolate treats. The great thing about charcuterie boards, is that your imagination is the only limit.

  2. Place small items in decorate bowls and trays. Here I've used festive red and green bowls, and my vintage Christmas tree shaped tray.
  3. Place your bowls first, then begin to add the additional ingredients around your board in sections.
  4. I like to layer them so there's enough items for a small sized gathering.
  5. I like to group my items and consider color and shape as I'm placing them around the board.
  6. If I have items left over and I'm expecting a crowd, I like to place items on festive plates surrounding my board.
  7. Add some festive greenery and you are ready to serve!
