A Gorgeous DIY Flower Table Runner

I added a fun new touch to my dining table and I love how it turned out! I often have trouble finding just the right table runner, and I had a vision for a flower table runner and decided I would just make it myself! I gathered the supplies I had around the house and picked up some faux flowers, and 20 minutes later I had this elegant new addition to my table, perfect for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or any festive occasion.

This floral table runner adds an elegant touch and it certainly stands out. But it’s also great to use when you don’t have fresh flowers available. I wanted this table runner to grace the floor, so this is a longer length than I typically use. I used a piece of velvet fabric I had at home and I’m so glad I finally had a great use for it.

When choosing your flowers, you want to think about color, size, texture, and shape. Now, you could create a similar look with using all the same flower, or even the same flower but different colors. But I wanted this version to have a variety of colors, sizes, textures, and shape.

This DIY only requires a few supplies, and if you shop at the dollar store, Walmart, or you find the flowers on sale at your local craft store, this can be a very affordable project.

FLOWER TABLE RUNNER SUPPLIES:

Glue Gun
Fabric
Faux Flowers in various shapes, sizes, and colors
Scissors

That’s it, my friends! Now let’s get to work.

FLOWER TABLE RUNNER DIRECTIONS:

Cut the flowers at the base of the stem. Get as close as you can to the flower so it’s easier to glue.

While your glue gun is heating, arrange the flowers where you want them to be. I do this by eye, but I like to make sure the various flowers are spread throughout.

Glue each flower in place, making sure to press down for a few seconds on each flower.

Let it sit for a few minutes to ensure the glue is fully dry, and then arrange it on your table and enjoy! I added my Valentine set up back to the table and I absolutely love the outcome!

Isn’t that so fun and romantic? The flower details, the blush pink, the touches of gold, the heart shaped plates, the pink linens…I’m so in love with the outcome!
