Make this overnight Sausage Egg Breakfast Casserole for a quick and easy breakfast on Christmas morning or any other weekend. This overnight is hearty, savory, and cheesy, an it gets a place in my Christmas Brunch Menu for all those reasons. I love having dishes ready that I can just pop in the oven to cook while I enjoy time with my family.
This breakfast casserole can be made the night before, or it comes together quickly in the morning and you can pop it in the oven and focus on other things!
Can you make a casserole with raw egg and leave it uncooked overnight in fridge?

Yes! You can assemble this casserole the night before, wrap it tightly and then refrigerate until the next morning. Then, bake according to recipe directions.
Does breakfast casserole have to be refrigerated overnight?
This breakfast casserole recipe can be made the morning of or the day before. Either way it is an easy dish to assemble and only needs about 3o minutes or so to bake. After baking, leftovers should be wrapped tightly and kept in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Easy Sausage Egg Breakfast Casserole
Sausage and Egg Breakfast Casserole
Savory Sausage and Egg Casserole can be assembled the night before for a quick and easy morning meal. The hearty, cheesy dish is the perfect dish for busy mornings.
Ingredients
- 454 grams Sausage (1 lb)
- 8 Eggs
- 6 Slices of bread
- 237 ml Whole Milk (1 cup)
- 238 grams Half and Half (1 cup)
- ½ tsp Ground Pepper
- 6 grams Salt (1 tsp)
- ¼ tsp Dry Mustard
- 227 grams Shredded cheddar cheese (8oz)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cut bread into 1-inch chunks (you can also just tear into pieces).
- Place bread chunks into baking dish prepared with cooking spray.
- Brown sausage until fully cooked. Sprinkle on top of the bread.
- Add half of the cheese on top of the sausage.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, salt, pepper, dry mustard.
- Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake in oven for 30-35 minutes until center is fully cooked.
Can you leave sausage egg casserole out overnight?
According to the FDA you should not leave dishes containing egg out longer than 2 hours. Be sure to wrap casserole tightly and place in refrigerator.
