One of my top tips for freshening up your home for a new season is to change out your pillows and decorative accents. By making just a few small changes, you can instantly change the look and feel of your home throughout the year. I used a lot of blue and white for my Spring Decorating Ideas post, and for this summer I wanted to bring in touches of pink and green.
I love to shop my home when decorating for a new season. Simply changing your decor from room to room can be a very easy way to refresh without breaking the bank! I pulled my pink ginger jars from our book case in the great room and I love the subtle blush tones in the living room. Last year my husband planted new hydrangeas plants for me and this year they are full of white and pink blooms. I brought some of the fresh blooms inside so we could enjoy them, and they look perfect in the pink ginger jars!
Another easy change for the season is to switch out your coffee table books to coordinate with your theme or color palette in a room. I added a few books that have soft pink and blue tones. You can find my favorite coffee table books linked below.

SUMMER DECORATING IN THE KITCHEN
In the kitchen, I focused on a few things to brighten up the space and give the most used room in our home a new fresh look. I love using serving pieces that can also be used as decor. I use them to store fresh fruit so it’s readily available for my family but also looks fresh and summery.
Aside note, I’m a bit proud I made the above baguettes from scratch. I have a whole series on bread making coming soon, along with some yummy quick bread recipes as well. I can’t wait for Culinary School to start back up. I’m taking an online class this summer, and I’m excited to dive into all things baking and the chocolate and candies course this fall. I am excited that I will officially be a Pastry Chef next summer!
Now on to another easy summer decor idea! Use candles throughout your decor. I have several candles on my island and my counter areas and we enjoy them every day. I have found my favorite candle line. Each candle I’ve purchased has a beautiful design and the smell is so good. I haven’t found one that I dislike yet! I’ll link my favorites for you below.
I picked up some pink peonies from Trader Joe’s and they opened up just in time for this Summer Home Tour! I always love their selection of flowers and you can’t beat their price point. There’s just something about a clean kitchen, gorgeous flowers, a lovely candle burning, and morning light streaming in this kitchen on a warm summer day.

I found some beautiful, high-quality dish towels to help freshen up my space. Not only are they so pretty, it’s another functional item that I can leave out to help make my kitchen feel like summer! I found a set of blush pink and a set of blue so I can interchange them throughout the season. It’s a little touch that brings a little joy every day!
Whether it’s a console table, an accent table, or your kitchen island or table, one easy way to decorate a space is to use ginger jars, vases, and decorative objects. I have a collection of white, pink, and blue and white jars that I love using throughout the season. I keep them all displayed in different rooms throughout my home which makes it easy to change things up.
If you have open shelving or a glass front cabinet in your kitchen, an easy summer decor idea is to rearrange or bring in some different items to these spaces. I rearranged my blue and white serving pieces and tableware, giving my glass cabinet a whole new look.

GREAT ROOM DECORATING IDEAS FOR SUMMER
I haven’t shown much of this space yet as it’s one of the last rooms that we have left to design. I’ve been working on pulling it together slowly and thought I’d share a few progress shots. This is where we have family movie nights and where the kids play games, so my goal is to use stylish but comfortable pieces that can withstand a lot of use.
I found an ivory sofa and two accent chairs that I love. The first thing we did when we got these pieces in was to have them sprayed with scotch guard! So far they are holding up nicely and we can all relax and enjoy this room together.
For this summer, I’ve used some lovely pink and blush floral pillows and the softest blush pink velvet pillow. I love the contrast of color with the neutral furniture and rug. I also brought in my coffee table books that feature summer flowers and touches of pink. I put together an arrangement of faux peonies for a simple but affordable accent. I love to use a mix of fresh and faux flowers. During this time when many of us are staying at home, faux arrangements can be an easy way to bring beauty to your home. I’ve linked my favorite faux flowers for you below.
I am still working on this space and can’t wait to share the finished room. I’m still looking for the perfect rug and cocktail table for this space. The existing coffee table is 14 years old and has seen better days! I’m also working on a plan for the art and drapery. Be sure to stay tuned for the full room reveal coming soon!
